A partnership between COOMAP and ACTOS BEM ESTAR promotes lecture about BREAST CANCER in Paraguaçu.
ACIAP and CDL hall was the scenario for the Pink October actions in Paraguaçu. In October 25th there were dozens of people, most of them were women, present to hear a lecture about breast cancer. The speech was made by the Labor Nurse Ana Isabel Vieira Moreira.
The event was very informative and explained in details how this desease works and solved several doubts from the audience, which was even able to simulate an examination aimed to identify nodules or irregularities in breasts of different sizes.
The Pink October initiative is a partnership between COOMAP and ACTOS BEM-ESTAR company, which had already developed similar activities before during a meeting with female cooperate growers from 12 neighborhoods in Paraguaçu rural area.

- More than 50 people were presente in this event;

- There are more than 20 subtypes of this disease;
- According to the Cancer National Institute, it’s estimated that there will be 57960 new cases of this disease just this year;
- Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer among women in Brasil and in the world, just behind skin cancer;
- In 2013, last year with officialized statistics, there were 14.388 deaths caused by this disease, 14206 women and 181 men;
- Although it’s rarer, breast câncer may affect males too.
