CERTIFICATIONS
The origin of agricultural certifications emerged in developed countries, with consumers concerned about the conditions of their suppliers and the origin and method of production of the food consumed. There are several types of certifications directly and indirectly.
COOMAP qualifies for indirect or third-party certification. This is based on verification of compliance with certain pre-established principles, criteria or rules, through audits and other monitoring procedures, by entities specialized in evaluation. Once compliance with these rules has been verified, the production unit submitted to the evaluation receives a certificate, which can be used commercially, as a way of differentiating the production unit in terms of its internal procedures. The assessment can be based, for example, on food safety, commercial relations, socio-environmental practices, management system, product quality, among others. Certifications are associated with compliance with Good Production Practices, which brings numerous benefits to the producer, the property and its workers.
In most cases, the certificate is linked to a seal, which differentiates products in their final sale to the consumer.
