This week, Senar Minas / Rural Union of Paraguaçu and COOMAP restarted courses focused on rural training. The first course taken after a period of suspension, because of the pandemic, is the Chainsaw Operation and Maintenance, which is taking place at Dom Bosco Sports Court, and will last three days.
Nine people have enrolled the course, most of them are rural workers, who work at our member’s farms. The course is taught by the instructor Matheus Costa Andrade and teaches safety techniques for operating the chainsaw and maintaining it properly, rules and regulations and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), among other contents, were also taught during this course.
“Every chainsaw operator must have a qualification course of at least 8 hours in duration. Ours has 24 hours because it also goes into the mechanics of the equipment. We understand that it is not only important to know how to operate, but we also need to know how to take care of the machine. And in the course, the operator is fully able to handle a tool that has a relatively high risk ”, says the instructor.
The rural worker and student of the course, Sebastião Carlos Ferreira Salgado, 53, was satisfied with the learning. “I learned a lot that I didn’t know, even though I’ve worked with chainsaws for some time. It was very good for me, ”he said.
With this course, COOMAP fulfills, again, two of its objectives, which are meeting the needs of cooperative members and providing sustaineble activities developed with producers. COOMAP, cultivating work, harvesting results.
