On March 9th, COOMAP, in partnership with Satis Company, offered cooperative members a lecture on coffee growing, at the ACIAP auditorium. It was given by the agronomist and consultant Eduardo Bianchi, following safety rules for the Covid-19 prevention.
Since 2022 coffee harvest is just around the corner, the agronomist talked about coffee quality, proper bush and biological management of coffee. “Nowadays there’s a global trend to think more biologically, not only when it comes to the biological control of pests and diseases, but also about soil microbiology. This is done in order to increase productivity and plants resilience”, he said. Within this context, he discussed ways to manage weed. This is especially important now, when restrictions on the use of several herbicides are being considered, and also to seek the quality of the coffee to be harvested.
COOMAP always seeks for opportunities to offer knowledge and technique in coffee production for our members, thus fulfilling its mission: promoting economic, social, environmental and technological development of its members, cultivating partnerships, working responsibly and valuing people. COOMAP, for 65 years cultivating work, harvesting results.
