From june 21st to 24th COOMAP was in Ireland for WORLD OF COFFEE 2016, a special coffees explosion that happens every year in a different European country. It’s organized by SCAE (Specialty Coffee Association of Europe). Some of its members are roasters, coffee growers, importers, cooperatives, cafeterias and other professionals involved in the coffee business. For COOMAP it was a really rewarding experience because one of its coffees was included in the global cupping, in which buyers and coffee specialists had the opportunity of tasting samples from all over the world in order to check it’s quality and create business opportunities. Being at this event was also important for understanding the European market needs, show COOMAP’s work for important companies in the coffee business.
VISITS TO BUYERS AND ROASTERS IN LONDON
After World of Coffee COOMAP headed to London for a series of visit to possible buyers, coffee shops and to OIC (International Coffee Organization) from June 26th to 28th. This specific trip was an excellent occasion to stablish a relationship with the English market and show all the work COOMAP is engaged in towards coffee quality improvement, sustainability and social projects.
MEETINGS WITH IMPORTERS IN GERMANY
From London COOMAP went to Hamburg, Germany. During this three-day stay, from June 28th to 30th, several meetings with local companies were held. It was really nice to see that for the German folk when the subject is coffee the first thing that comes to their mind is Brazil.
This whole trip was for sure an excellent learning experience related to knowing international market’s needs, making COOMAP known to the European coffee world, which is really wide, and stablish partnerships in order to increase the commercial value of our member’s product.
